As Irish traditional music is central to all of our tours, it’s no surprise that we spend a good amount of time in pubs because that’s where you’re going to hear good authentic Irish Music. Over the years we’ve played in hundreds if not thousands of pubs throughout Ireland and we’ve picked our 5 favourite pubs that are included in our Wild Atlantic Way tours as part of our Ireland vacation. In no particular order of preference, we’ll go from north to south starting in beautiful Donegal…..
Nancy’s Bar, Ardara, Co. Donegal.
Nancy’s Bar has been in the McHugh family for almost 7 generations. A popular haunt for both locals and tourists, here you can sip on a pint of the best Guinness and dine on the finest food made from quality local produce in one of the many rooms adorned with wonderful antiques and artefacts. Traditional Irish Music by the open fire in the front bar makes Nancys a must visit on any trip.
Tig Coili’s Bar, Galway City
Tig Coilis has long been regarded as the top Traditional Irish Music Bar in Ireland. With sessions 3 times a day over the summer months, the cream of Irish musicians can heard here from morning to night. With the walls and ceilings adorned with memorabilia and bank notes from all over the world this is definately on of the main spots to visit when in Galway City
Taaffe’s Bar, Galway City
Taaffe’s Bar is a stones throw across the street from Tig Coilis. With traditional irish music twice daily and good food on the menu this is the perfect place to recharge the batteries, grab some great food, get a pint while listening to great traditional irish music.
O’Sullivan’s Courthouse Bar, Dingle, Co. Kerry
Run by Tommy and Saundra O’Sullivan, The Courthouse Bar in Dingle host music 7 days a week. Tommy and Saundra can often be heard playing and singing in this wonderful pub along with some of the numerous world class musicians that are based in the Dingle peninsula. With music nightly, if you’re in Dingle make this a definate stop for amazing irish music and song. You won’t be disappointed!!
Bollard’s Bar, Kilkenny City
This is normally our last stop at the end of our 10 night Wild Atlantic Way tour. Great food, great beer and top class traditional Irish music to round off 10 days travel around Ireland.
