DAY 1 - Welcome onboard!
We’ll meet at Manchester International Airport (England) at 10 am. Once we have the luggage loaded onto our luxury coach we’ll begin the journey to Bonny Scotland. Along our journey today we’ll stop off at Hadrian’s Wall, built by the Romans to guard the north-west frontier from the Scottish Clans. From here we make our way to Edinburgh, Scotland’s premier city, famous for it’s Castle, Tattoo, festivals and architecture. Tonight we’ll have a welcome dinner followed by the first of many sessions. (Visit to the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo is optional.) (Dinner included)
DAY 2 -Today we’ll pay a visit to Edinburgh Castle
The castle is home of the Scottish National War Museum. It also houses the Crown Jewels and the Stone of Destiny. We’ll also take in the Harry Potter walking tour for all the movie buffs. We’ll also pay a visit to master Bagpipe makers, William Sinclair and Son and see first hand how these wonderful instruments are made. This evening we’ll take in some traditional Scottish music in one or more of the many lively bars in this vibrant city.
DAY 3 - Today is your day off.
Feel free to lie in, go shopping, go drinking, whatever you want to do. Edinburgh has lots of hidden treasures you can explore at your leisure. Your guide will be on hand to advise you of your options.
DAY 4 - Today we leave Edinburgh and head north to Inverness,
On route, we’ll stop off in Dunkeld, home of famous Scottish singer/songwriter Dougie MacLean where we will have a few tunes to help us along the way. Further along the road we’ll stop off for an amazing experience at Leault Farm with their working sheepdog demonstrations. Tonight, we’ll enjoy some authentic Celtic music in our hotel. (Dinner
DAY 5 - Today we make our way to the Isle of Skye,
Today we make our way to the Isle of Skye, stopping off for the day at Loch Ness, famous for it’s legendary monster. We’ll take a cruise along this famous Loch taking in the beauty and maybe singing a few songs. The largest of the Inner Hebrides, the Isle of Skye has a very rich history, famous for its Clan Warfare, Highland Clearances and the infamous ‘Bonnie Prince Charlie’. The MacDonald and MacLeod Clans have their castles on the island and we’ll pay a visit while also sampling the local whiskey. (Dinner Included)
DAY 6 - Today we take the high road to the historic town of Fort William
Today we leave the Isle of Skye and take the high road to the historic town of Fort William which nestles at the foot of Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the British Isles. We’ll visit the famous Ben Nevis Distillery and sample their whiskey. Fort William is the location of Neptune’s Staircase, the longest staircase locks (8 gates, 55 meters) in the UK on the Caledonian Canal. It also plays host to the Harry Potter Express to Mallaig during the summer months. Again we’ll enjoy some local music in the authentic Scottish pubs. DAY 7 - Today we’ll take a short drive along the ‘Road to the Isles”
Today we’ll take a short drive along the ‘Road to the Isles” to the beautiful fishing village of Mallaig. Along the way we’ll stop at the Glenfinnan Monument. This afternoon we’ll enjoy some down time in Mallaig and we’ll play a tunes or two in this picturesque village. We’ll make our way back to Fort William to relax and have a stroll through the town.
DAY 8 - Today we head south to Scotland’s second city, Glasgow.
Today we head south to Scotland’s second city, Glasgow. Famous for it’s shipbuilding, Glasgow has a rich history as an industrial city with wonderful architecture and a vibrant Celtic music scene. After dinner we’ll enjoy some authentic Celtic music in the traditional Scottish bars. (Dinner Included).DAY 8 – Explore the hidden wonders of Edinburgh
DAY 9 - Today we’ll take a walking tour of the city center
Today we’ll take a walking tour of the city center and learn more about the history, people and industry that made Glasgow famous. We’ll pay a visit to the Wellpark brewery, home of famous Scottish beer Tennents and Glasgow Distillery, home of Makar Gin. We’ll also visit a kilt maker to learn about the history of tartan and see how the famous kilt is made. Later, we’ll be joined for a few tunes by some of Glasgow’s finest musicians.
DAY 10 - Today is your day off. This is an opportunity to explore Glasgow,
take a lie in or enjoy the vibrant city at your own leisurely pace. After our final meal together we’ll enjoy some fantastic music tonight with some amazing local musicians. (Dinner included)
DAY 11 - Unfortunately today we must return to Manchester
Unfortunately today we must return to Manchester for our onward journey. We’ll leave at 10am to return to Manchester Airport approx. 2pm.
