DAY 1 - Pick Up 10am Dublin Airport
Our Tour begins with a visit to Navan Fort, Co. Armagh. Experience life over 2000 years ago, as you walk in the footsteps of warriors to the ancient Navan Fort, site of the great temple of 95BC. Your guide will explain how and why this impressive ceremonial structure was built, as well as highlighting the importance of the surrounding sites in the Navan complex. Immerse yourself in Iron Age life, as you meet the resident Celtic clan & view their period dwelling! During your visit, you may find the Celts regaling you with stories of their past triumphs, cooking, weaving or even preparing their weaponry for battle.Tonight we stay in Armagh City, famous for its twin Cathedrals. After dinner we can relax with some lively Traditional Irish Music.
DAY 2 - Pick up 9.30
Today we depart for Derry City. On route we’ll stop off at the famous Ulster/American Folk Park. Here you can Immerse yourself in the story of the brave emigrants who made the journey across the Atlantic to America hundreds of years ago.
Wander through the thatched cottages and log cabins and meet costumed characters who will show you traditional crafts, tell you a few stories and maybe even share a bit of their good food.
Board a full-scale emigrant ship to experience the conditions faced by many as they set sail for a new life in America. With 30 buildings and exhibits to explore, masses of things for the kids to do, the Ulster American Folk Park is a wonderfully unique experience.
From here we’ll make our way to Derry City where we will stay the night and enjoy Derry’s famous hospitality and good music.
DAY 3 - Pick Up 10.00 AM
This morning we’ll take in a quick tour of Derry’s Walls and learn more about the divided past of this beautiful city. Onwards to Belfast with a stop at the world famous Giants Causeway and the Bushmills Distillery. Once in Belfast we’ll visit the famous Titanic visitors centre before settling into our hotel and enjoying some of the many music sessions available in this vibrant city.
DAY 4 - Pick Up 10.00am
Today we have planned a vist to the factory of world famous guitar maker, Lowden Guitars. We’ll see the process at first hand how these wonder instruments are made and hear the story behind the man himself, George Lowden.
You then have an opportunity to spend a few hours of free time in Belfast City exploring this historic and often troubled place, relax in some of the many restaurants and bars or take in some retail therapy. we’ll finish his evening with more of the fantastic music Belfast has to offer.
DAY 5 - Pick Up 10.00AM
This morning we’ll make our way up the motorway to the town of Lurgan. Hear we’ll stop off at the Lough Neagh Discovery Centre for a workshop with ‘Strawcraft Ireland’. Paul Carville runs Straw Craft Ireland. Paul is continuing on the tradition of using straw to weave and sculpt anything from household items to items of clothing using only the medium of straw. Paul is carrying on a tradition he learned from his grandfather, himself a master craftsman. As part of our Great Northern Traditional Music Tour, we are delighted to have Paul conduct a workshop with our guests when we visit the Lough Neagh Discovery Centre on the outskirts of Lurgan, Co. Armagh. Our guests will get the opportunity to see this master craftsman at work while at the same time get to make their own item in straw that they can keep as a reminder of their visit. Tonight we’ll have our final session with lots of guest musicians from the local area.
DAY 6 - Pick Up 10.00am
Today it is time to say Farewell unfortunately and we will make our way back to Airport.
